What is Nutritional Therapy?

Breaking down the word “Nutritional Therapy”, it’s “therapy via nutrition” because food is medicine. BUT it’s so much more than just nutrition; it’s understanding your past health, past & present lifestyle, movement, light exposure, quality of living, and learning to be connected with ourselves so we can understand what our body is telling us through the symptoms it presents.

You may have various symptoms that you long to have resolved such as low energy, headaches, mood swings, weight gain, digestive issues, no/heavy/irregular periods etc. (the list could go on) but these aren’t the issue, they are the signals your body is giving you to say “hey, something is wrong and I need you to pay attention’.

This is why as a Naturopathic Nutritionist I will help you find WHY you have those symptoms by finding the ROOT CAUSE of the issue. So not only will I help the underlying cause that we can’t see going on behind our physiology make up, but I (with the help of your dedication) will help those annoying symptoms go away too.

Now, if you’re wondering how any of this is possible and why you may struggle to receive the same type of approach at typical health practices, I will briefly explain:

Nutritional Therapy combines the sciences of biochemistry and nutrition with natural therapies and lifestyle changes to promote good health. Nutritional Therapy is holistic because it aims to work with the person as a whole (rather than focusing on symptoms) and Naturopathic Nutritionists understand that there is not a “one size fits all’ approach, so health programmes are unique and personalised to you.

Naturopathic Nutritionists use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional & lifestyle imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows us to work with clients to address these imbalances to help the body towards better and maintainable health.

Nutritional Therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is relevant for clients with chronic conditions as well as those looking for support to enhance their health and wellbeing.
